Pillow Talk:
The Sensual Relationship Game is played
with the aid of a game board, 1 die, 2 game pieces, 60-second timer, question
cards, theme cards, token cards, pass cards, and surprise
cards. Question cards
focus on sexually intimate questions and situations which initiate open and
honest communication. Players must
practice using ÒIÓ statements with each question.
Theme
cards are topics of sexual intimacy and/or relationships. They are meant to spark conversation,
where players can naturally reveal their thoughts on these topics. Theme cards are modeled after
traditional tarot cards. Each card
features beautiful, erotic art by Allan Harms, which parallels the theme. A short definition or statement about
each theme is also included to help participants disclose their innermost
thoughts. Theme cards such
as Love, Compassion, and Trust, signify warmth found in close
relationships. Manipulation,
Abuse, and Judgment are theme cards that denote negative aspects of
relationships.
The 13 token
cards are the gameÕs main focus.
The cards include such issues as jealousy, in-laws, and fear. These issues are some of the biggest
problems individuals face in their relationships. By working through and resolving these issues, individuals
will discover the beauty of being connected to another human being.
Each player is
given 3 pass cards at the start of the game, which allow that player to
pass or skip a question or theme card the player is uncomfortable with. When a player lands on square 75 and
successfully discusses the token card, that player gets to pick a surprise
card. Surprise cards are
the prizes you get for winning the game.
However, with Pillow Talk, both
partners win as most prizes entitle couples to wonderful and exciting treats
they can enjoy together.
At the beginning
of each game, participants must pick 3 pass cards and 1 token card
each. Players roll the die and
make their way through the squares on the board as in the traditional Snakes
and Ladders game. However, with Pillow Talk, players must perform the task on each square before
advancing.
The game board
has 75 squares. The majority of
the squares are question card squares, where participants must pick a
question card and answer it. The
second most numerous square is the theme card squares. If a player lands here, the player must
pick a theme card and discuss how the topic relates to him or her in their
relationship. A few squares on the
board ask players to pick a theme card and ask their partner a question
based on it. Other squares
include roll again and miss a turn and are self-explanatory.
Players travel
around the board, disclosing their innermost thoughts and feelings to their
partner until one player lands on the finish square (square 75). Here, the player must successfully
discuss the token card to win the game and receive a surprise card.
Pillow
Talk also comes with a number of blank question,
theme, surprise, and token cards so couples can tailor the
game to fit their relationship. If
there is a particular question someone is dying to ask their partner they can
include it in the game. Couples
can also paint or draw on the blank theme cards to include topics important to
their relationship. Most
importantly, couples can modify the token cards to work through specific issues
that are pertinent to their relationship.
Pillow Talk: The Sensual Relationship Game is designed to be the stimulus for couples to self-disclose in a reciprocal manner. The gameÕs humorous questions and spiritual qualities create an environment conducive to loving and caring. It is the type of tool that couples can use regardless of whether the intimacy in their relationship is waning or not.
